Apple, Paul Rudd, Tina Turner, Toasters, and Instant Coffee are all brilliant examples of how relevance has been reinvented.First, please understand, honoring re-purposing things is something far too few Americans do; and often when they do, it’s a clumsy exercise in what seems to be embarrassed under achievement.
Enter the new Mocha Frappe from McDonald's.
From first glance we see a war brewing between Starbucks and McDonald's for who has the best summertime-frozen-mind-freeze beverage, but it's much deeper than that. It is an act of pure genius.
McDonald's has simply repackaged their shake in a fancy cup and topped with whipped cream. The same thing that once cost $2 is now $2.79. It's things like this that would have made Richard and Maurice McDonald proud. Who knows, next we might just see the Double Breakfast EggMc Big Mac, but only time will tell!
